ARLINGTON, Texas — Playoff time, Cowboys fans!

This is the third season in a row Dallas has made it to the postseason, the first three-year consecutive stretch since (you guessed it) the good 'ol 90s days. The Cowboys handled business and beat the Washington Commanders on the road, 38-10, to secure the NFC East division title and the No. 2 overall seed.

So, who do they play next?

After Week 18 shook itself out, the Green Bay Packers ended up with the No. 7 seed and will come to AT&T Stadium – sans Aaron Rodgers (thank goodness). Dallas-Green Bay has served some sour memories in the recent past (Dez caught it), so perhaps the Cowboys can right the wrongs and get over the playoff Packers roadblock.

Dallas will kick off against Green Bay at 3:30 p.m. CT Sunday. The game will air on FOX.

The Packers beat the Chicago Bears on Sunday to guarantee their playoff berth. The only question for the Cowboys was whether Green Bay would jump to the No. 6 seed or stay put at No. 7. The Cowboys got their answer about 10 minutes after their game went final, when the Los Angeles Rams held off the San Francisco 49ers to secure the No. 6 seed.

So instead of hosting the Rams, the Cowboys will now get coach Mike McCarthy's former team in the Packers.

The Cowboys and Packers did not play this season. The last matchup with the Packers was a 31-28 overtime loss at Lambeau Field in 2022.

Dallas will have home field advantage as long as they don't play San Francisco. The only way they'll play the 49ers is in the NFC Championship. That would be the furthest the Cowboys have gone in the playoffs since their Super Bowl year in 1995.

The prospect of hosting at least two, potentially three playoff games (if San Francisco gets upset at any point), paves a promising pathway to the Super Bowl. Dallas is league-best 8-0 at home this season and only 4-5 on the road.

The Cowboys' average margin of victory is 21.5 points per game in home games, which is best in the NFL.

Could this be the year? After their 12-5 season, Dallas certainly set themselves up for success to win it all, that's for sure.
